What is a Diagnostic Venous Ultrasound?
A diagnostic venous ultrasound is one of the most common diagnostic tests to determine the health of a patient's veins. This non-invasive and non-surgical diagnostic test uses ultrasound technology to get a view of the circulatory system and the structures of the veins underneath the skin without any cutting, scarring, or anesthesia. Patients are able to sit back during their diagnostic ultrasound and relax while our board-certified vascular specialists take a deeper look at their circulatory health.
What are the Benefits of a Diagnostic Venous Ultrasound?
There are many benefits of receiving a diagnostic venous ultrasound at Precision Vascular, including:
- Non-invasive, non-surgical procedure
- Takes 45 - 60 minutes to complete
- Can be used to diagnose a variety of vein diseases and conditions
- No preparation, downtime, or recovery period
What Can I Expect During My Diagnostic Venous Ultrasound?
On the day of your diagnostic venous ultrasound, you will be asked to wear loose-fitting clothing that is easy to lift or remove if asked. Before your diagnostic ultrasound begins, your board-certified vein specialist will apply a small amount of gel to the skin to lubricate the area that the ultrasound wand will glide over. Your specialist will then press the wand onto the skin of the desired area to get a better view of the internal structures of the veins and circulatory system. The entire ultrasound process typically takes 45-60 minutes to complete, after which time you'll be able to return to your normal daily activities including work.
How Much Does a Diagnostic Venous Ultrasound Cost?
The cost of your diagnostic venous ultrasound will vary depending on the type of treatment you receive, the extent of treatment needed to achieve your desired results, and your health insurance coverage. To get a better idea of how much your diagnostic venous ultrasound will cost, we encourage you to come in for a private consultation with one of our doctors.
