What is a Diagnostic Arterial Ultrasound?

A diagnostic arterial ultrasound is one of the most common and popular diagnostic tests to determine the health of a patient's arteries and cardiovascular system. This non-invasive and non-surgical diagnostic test uses ultrasound technology to get a view of the patient's arteries and blood vessels underneath the skin without any cutting, scarring, or anesthesia. Patients are able to sit back during their diagnostic ultrasound and relax while our board-certified arterial specialists take a deeper look at their arterial health.

What are the Benefits of a Diagnostic Arterial Ultrasound?

There are many benefits of receiving a diagnostic arterial ultrasound at Precision Vascular, including:

  • Non-invasive, non-surgical procedure
  • Takes 45 minutes to an hour to complete
  • Can be used to diagnose a variety of artery diseases and conditions
  • No preparation, downtime, or recovery period

What Can I Expect During My Diagnostic Arterial Ultrasound?

Immediately following your stenting procedure, we will monitor the access site for bleeding for a short time.  The time will vary by patient and access site. You may experience some mild bruising and tenderness at the access site.  This is normal and side effects typically resolve on their own within a few days of treatment. Your specialist will provide you with detailed post-operative care instructions prior to your stenting, so you can better know what to expect during your recovery.
